Grants for Solar Panels in Scotland
Several government-backed grants and funding schemes are available to offset the upfront cost of going solar for Scottish homeowners.
The most valuable funding option is the Home Energy Scotland Loan — an interest-free government-backed loan of as much as £15,000, with cashback of up to £2,500 for qualifying installations.
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) is another key incentive, obliging major energy suppliers to offer a tariff on any unused solar electricity exported to the national grid.
Depending on your circumstances, the ECO4 scheme may also be available, and some Scottish councils run their own local funding schemes.
